I N F O R M A T I O N

Within the Project "Piloting Solutions for Alleviating Brain-drain in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia and Montenegro" organized through UNESCO - Hewlett-Packard-a  and University of Montenegro, dr Janko Kosmac from Elektroinstitut Milan Vidmar, Ljubljana, Slovenia, will perform  seminar and consultations on the topic:

 

1. Lightning & Lightning Localization Systems

 

2. Aspects of Lightning Detection for Utilities or Industries

 

First lecture will be in Tuesday, 08.02.2005

 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in 10:00h  

 

             

            Within the his visit to Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Podgorica, which are realized through joint research project "Piloting Solutions for Alleviating Brain-drain in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia and Montenegro" organized through the UNESCO - Hewlett-Packard partnership, dr Janko Kosmac has presented lectures the on the topics:

1. Lightning & Lightning Localization Systems:

  • Introduction,

  • Brief historical overview,

  • Cloud electrification,

  • Thunderstorm cloud electrical profile,

  • Lightning,

  • Lightning detection systems,

  • Lightning detection systems in Slovenia. 

2. Aspects of Lightning Detection for Utilities or Industries:

  • Use of lightning information in electric power utilities and industries,

  • TCP/IP protocol and Internet - what did they bring into lightning business,

  • Basic SW and IS concepts,

  • Automatic correlation of line faults with lightning,

  • Meteorological & lightning data combined,

  • Lightning forecasting.

Beside the graduate and postgraduate students, experts from Power Industry of Montenegro also have attended to lectures.
